Oppose anti-LGBTQ+ legislation harming students' wellbeing

To: Rep. Gutierrez, Rep. Mathis

From: A constituent in Tucson, AZ

May 31

This bill is extremely concerning as it infringes on the rights of LGBTQ+ students and creates an unwelcoming and potentially unsafe environment in schools. Forcing educators to out or misgender transgender and non-binary students is unethical and harmful. Restricting discussion of LGBTQ+ topics and identities amounts to educational censorship that denies students access to important information. Such policies marginalize a vulnerable population and contribute to stigma, discrimination, and mental health issues among LGBTQ+ youth. All students deserve to feel safe, respected, and have their identities affirmed at school. I urge you to oppose this legislation and any attempts to make schools inhospitable for LGBTQ+ young people. Inclusive policies that protect LGBTQ+ students' wellbeing should be the priority.
