I have just read that you, South Carolina GOP Gov. Henry McMaster are expected to announce a special session on redistricting. This would allow the state legislature to pass a Republican gerrymander that would almost certainly cost Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn his seat in this year’s midterms. If this is your plan, it is a reversal of your earlier position, and follows pressure from President Donald Trump and his allies to gerrymander the state. SC should not be accepting pressure from outside forces. Not even from the White House! Five Republican state senators voted with Democrats to block a measure that would have allowed them to redraw South Carolina’s districts this cycle. Do not override the will of the people of SC or that of the SC State Senators!
