Senator, please stand up to Trump and his lies
To: Sen. Schiff
From: A verified voter in Lompoc, CA
July 15
I’m writing as a concerned Californian and supporter, disturbed by the latest false accusations circulating online about you and so-called “mortgage fraud.” I realize you and your team are well aware of these attacks and have plenty of legal and strategic counsel, but I wanted to weigh in as a voter.
Trump and his media ecosystem are using you as a political scapegoat, and by extension, they are attacking California itself. I’m calling on you to not let this go unchallenged. When these lies circulate unopposed, a portion of the public believes them, and the damage lingers no matter how ridiculous the claims are.
I encourage you to:
1. Publicly and visibly debunk these accusations — not just online, but in interviews, press statements, and other public forums.
2. Demand a formal retraction from Trump, even knowing he won’t comply. Doing so forces the media to cover the lie as a lie.
3. Consider legal action, even if success is unlikely. Sometimes the process itself, especially discovery, is worth it to expose deliberate disinformation strategies.
You’ve been an effective advocate for truth and accountability in Washington. I hope you’ll bring that same energy to defend your name — not only for your sake, but because Californians are tired of being Trump’s favorite punching bag.
Thank you for your continued service. I remain a proud and watchful constituent.
