Subject: Support a New Generation of Progressive Leadership for Speaker of the House Dear Representative Brown, As your constituent in Northeast Ohio, I am writing to urge you to support a new generation of progressive leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives when the 120th Congress convenes in January 2027. I believe the Democratic Party needs to send a clear message to the American people: We have heard you. The old way of doing business is no longer enough, and we are prepared to change. That message must be reflected in our leadership choices, not simply in campaign speeches. We need leaders who can communicate effectively, connect with younger voters, challenge entrenched political interests, and demonstrate that Democrats are willing to fight for the people they represent. I am asking you to consider alternatives to Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House, particularly Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Maxwell Frost, and Greg Casar. These representatives bring experience in grassroots organizing, public communication, and progressive leadership. They represent the kind of generational change I would like to see within the Democratic Party. Younger Americans deserve to see a party that understands their concerns about housing affordability, economic insecurity, climate change, healthcare, and their future. We also need leadership that vigorously defends voting rights, public education, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, immigrant rights, and democratic institutions. Choosing new leadership would be an opportunity to demonstrate that Democrats are listening, adapting, and willing to move beyond the political strategies of the past. We cannot simply promise change while continuing with business as usual. I recognize that electing a Speaker requires building a majority within the House. Nevertheless, I urge you to encourage an open leadership discussion, support consideration of progressive alternatives, and seriously consider voting for a Speaker who represents a new direction for the Democratic Party.
