Reject harmful education funding cuts for Ohio students

To: Sen. Blessing, Gov. DeWine, Rep. Odioso

May 20

As a parent of a Cincinnati Public Schools student and employee of the district, I see daily, first-hand how funding cuts hurt children. The proposed legislation threatens to severely underfund public schools across Ohio by suspending the Fair School Funding Plan formula, capping district financial reserves, and changing how the "20 mill floor" property tax revenue is calculated. This could result in a loss of millions in funding for CPS over the next two years, forcing the district to either cut critical programs and services or place a greater burden on local taxpayers. I urge you to reject these harmful proposals that undermine years of educational progress. Our students deserve equitable, stable funding that allows schools to maintain quality education and provide the resources needed for all children to succeed.
