Soon you, the U.S. Senate, will consider president-elect Donald Trump’s nominations for Cabinet positions and other important government offices including FBI director. Despite the fact that he has been elected once again, Trump’s lack of mental fitness, absence of moral character, and corrupt qualification for office remain more blatant than ever. I believe many of Trump’s choices for cabinet positions are perverse and equally unqualified for their intended roles. Perhaps that's his point. Their names and backgrounds need no mention here since they have been widely published along with reasons their nominations should be flatly rejected. If you've been paying attention, you know who they are. I do expect the Senators, whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent to honor the Constitution, take seriously their duty of Advise and Consent, and prioritize Country over Party by carefully evaluating the qualifications and potential impact these nominees will have on the offices they will lead. You are one of the remaining guardrails. Do not simply rubber-stamp nominee approvals. History will remember what you do. Our country is watching. The World is watching.
