Ban the Sale of Accelerated Access to Presidential Market-Moving Posts

Support Sen. Mark Warner's legislation to ban Trump Media's Truth API service. No sitting president should be able to sell Wall Street a millisecond head start on information that moves global markets — and profit personally from it. That is exactly what is happening right now. Trump Media is charging trading firms up to $1.2 million a year for a machine-readable feed of Trump's posts, delivered before most investors can even refresh their screens. When the Truth API launched, Trump announced canceled strikes on Iran and oil prices fell nearly 5%. A single March post sent Brent crude tumbling 11%. His crypto reserve announcement added $300 billion to global markets. These aren't coincidences — they're a product being sold. Trump's stake in TMTG jumped nearly $77 million in value after the API announcement alone. The White House calls this a free-market distinction between public and nonpublic information. That framing is dishonest. What's being sold is the latency gap — the interval between a presidential post and public awareness — and the president is the one who controls when and what gets posted. Sixty percent of Americans already say Trump is using the presidency for personal gain. This is the clearest example yet. Pass the legislation to end it.
