A Call for Compassion – Arizona’s Role in Humanitarian Aid

To: Rep. Wilmeth, Gov. Hobbs, Sen. Bolick, Rep. Simacek

From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ

May 15

I write to you today as a concerned citizen, asking Arizona to take action to support the children and families suffering in Gaza. I recognize that our state does not have a surplus of resources, but compassion is not measured in dollars alone. The right thing—the Christian thing to do—is to offer whatever help we can, even if all we have to give is our voice. Arizona has always been a place that stands for kindness, resilience, and aid for those in need. That legacy does not—and should not—end today. I respectfully ask that Arizona: - Advocate for federal humanitarian aid to Gaza, ensuring lifesaving relief reaches those suffering. - Partner with nonprofits and other organizations that are actively providing aid. - Explore pathways for refugee resettlement, offering a temporary home for innocent families displaced by conflict. - Create educational initiatives to raise awareness and encourage Arizonans to take action. We are called to help, not as a political statement but as an act of humanity. As Americans, we are shaped by the words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. That promise does not expire—it is part of who we are. Arizona has always risen to the occasion when called to help those in need. I ask you to ensure that we continue to do so today.
