Regulate AI to Combat Dangerous Misuse and Misinformation for Political Purposes
To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Webster, Sen. Moody
From: A verified voter in Ocoee, FL
April 17
I’m writing to express my deep concern over the unchecked proliferation of AI-generated content being utilized and weaponized for political manipulation and outright deception.
The recent flood of grotesque, racist, and sacrilegious AI imagery—Trump’s videos comparing the Obamas to apes, or his absurd “bombing” of protestors with feces—isn’t just embarrassing; it’s corrosive to democracy. Worse, his AI-generated “healing” hospital photo and blasphemous embrace with Jesus aren’t just propaganda—they’re dangerously delusional, blurring reality for millions.
This isn’t satire. It’s digital arson, fueling division and eroding truth. Right now, AI tools are being wielded like political flamethrowers with zero accountability. We need robust legislation immediately to:
1. Mandate clear-labeling of ALL AI-generated political content.
2. Criminalize malicious deepfakes designed to incite hatred & violence or to deceive voters.
3. Hold platforms accountable for amplifying these types of content.
The alternative? A free-for-all where lies materialize faster than fact-checks. Please act before this escalated further. Our democracy is not a playground for AI-fueled lunacy.
