Stop Aid Killing Palestinians

To: Rep. Dexter

From: A verified voter in Portland, OR

June 1

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent who is deeply disturbed by the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. The continued U.S. military aid to Israel—without meaningful conditions—makes our government complicit in what many leading human rights organizations, legal scholars, and international observers are increasingly recognizing as a campaign of collective punishment, ethnic cleansing, and potentially genocide. While I acknowledge your calls for a long-term negotiated cease-fire and your concern for the humanitarian crisis, these positions are insufficient without corresponding action. Words without policy change cannot save lives. I urge you in the strongest terms to: • Publicly call for an immediate and permanent cease-fire; • Support the conditioning or complete cessation of U.S. military aid to Israel until there is verifiable compliance with international humanitarian law; • Back full access for independent humanitarian organizations and journalists in Gaza; • Support investigations into possible war crimes by all parties, including through international mechanisms like the International Criminal Court. Over 35,000 Palestinians—many of them women and children—have been killed. Entire neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, and refugee camps have been flattened. The forced starvation and mass displacement of civilians are not collateral damage—they are the predictable consequences of a military strategy that dehumanizes an entire population. As your constituent, I demand that you do more than call for peace—you must act to stop our country’s direct material support for this violence. This is a defining moral issue of our time, and history will not be kind to those who remained silent or neutral. I hope you will find the courage to join your colleagues in Congress who are calling for real accountability and justice, including Representatives Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and others. We are watching. We are voting. And we are demanding action.
