Vote NO on the SAVE Act - Protect your married female constituents

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A verified voter in Gulf Breeze, FL

February 14

I am writing today to express major concern regarding the SAVE act, which I believe recently passed the House. I understand that people are concerned about voter fraud and that they think it will help. But there has NEVER been evidence of widespread voter fraud. This bill is just another barrier to exercising a fundamental right that will disproportionately affect individuals with marginalized identities. Married women LIKE ME who change their surname could have their voting process complicated as not all states allow residents to update their birth certificates with their new names. It’s estimated that up to 20 million people across America are not as fortunate as some of us who have access to both our original birth certificate and a passport. What is your solution for them?! Are you going to essentially bar your own constituents from their right to vote by making is more difficult and more expensive? How does THAT help our country? You were elected to serve your constituents well. This does not do that. I implore you to vote NO on the save act.
