Hoosiers Are Paying the Tax Bill Big Tech Skipped
To: Gov. Braun
From: A verified voter in Westfield, IN
June 3
To the Governor,
You handed data centers more than $655 million a year in sales and use tax exemptions — the same taxes every Hoosier pays without exception. In return, these facilities are driving up our utility bills and creating ecological costs that we, the taxpayers, will be left to absorb.
Absolutely not. The companies profiting here should be funding the infrastructure their operations demand. We should not. They are not contributing to our communities in any way that justifies this — and you cannot plead poverty on roads and schools while writing off hundreds of millions for some of the largest corporations on earth.
We do not want them here on these terms. Do something right for once, instead of mortgaging the next generation to subsidize companies that need nothing from us.
Signed,
A Voting Constituent
