NO on Title IX disapproval – protect library workers and students copy

To: Sen. Klobuchar, Sen. Smith

From: A verified voter in Good Thunder, MN

July 12

As your constituent, an LGBTQI+ person, an educator in Library & Information Science, and as a practicing librarian, I am writing to urge you to oppose H.J.Res. 165 and S.J.Res. 96, which would overturn the Education Department’s recent Title IX rule. The 2024 Title IX rule clarifies that recipients of Education Department funding may not discriminate against LGBTQI+ library workers or students in employment opportunities or the delivery of library services (e.g., removal of library materials in a discriminatory manner). All Americans deserve equal opportunity in education, employment, and the freedom to read. I hope you will oppose H.J.Res. 165 and S.J.Res. 96, and if they come to the floor, I hope you will vote NO.
