An Open Letter

To: Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

March 16

A daily reminder that we expect you to vote against the SAVE Act. Many Republicans want the SAVE Act put in place to solve a problem that does not exist. People living in the United States illegally are not voting. The SAVE Act goes far beyond requiring a photo ID in order to vote. We already have to do that. The SAVE Act is vote suppression. End of story. It is a poll tax. It is against the Constitution and it is illegal. If the Republicans feel the only way they can win future elections is to rig the system, to suppress our vote, and to cheat, then the problem is with the Republicans. Perhaps you all should change your policies and agendas and start working for the people instead of against us. I expect you to vote against the SAVE Act. I expect you to uphold your oath to the Constitution, even though clearly neither one have you seems inclined to do that recently. Voting is a right, not a privilege. We deserve free and fair elections. Vote no on the SAVE Act.
