I am writing to express my strong opposition to the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to any position of influence over public health policy. His track record demonstrates not only a lack of qualifications but also a dangerous disregard for established scientific research, particularly in the areas of vaccines and infectious disease control. His views, if given legitimacy through a government position, will put the health of our nation—especially its children—at serious risk. Mr. Kennedy has long promoted vaccine misinformation, despite overwhelming scientific consensus on the safety and efficacy of immunization. His advocacy against life-saving public health measures has already had devastating real-world consequences. A particularly egregious example occurred in Samoa, where he advised parents to keep sick children at home, oppose vaccinations, and avoid emergency medical care during a deadly measles outbreak. In the wake of this misinformation campaign, the death toll among children quadrupled. This is not the behavior of someone fit to shape health policy. Public health should be guided by science, not conspiracy theories. Allowing Mr. Kennedy to have a platform in government will directly endanger lives, undermine trust in medical institutions, and roll back decades of progress in disease prevention.
