Oppose ICE Enforcement in Oklahoma

To: Rep. Munson, Gov. Stitt, Sen. Hicks

From: A verified voter in Oklahoma City, OK

January 16

I am writing as your constituent to strongly urge you to oppose any effort to bring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents or expanded federal immigration enforcement operations into the state of Oklahoma. Recent federal immigration enforcement activities in Minneapolis, Minnesota have raised serious and widely reported concerns about the use of force and treatment of individuals, including the fatal shooting of a local resident by an ICE officer that has sparked widespread protests and criticism. Thousands have marched and Minnesota officials have openly condemned the aggressive federal tactics, which many view as dangerous to public safety and civil liberties. Beyond the tragic shooting, there are credible reports of federal agents using tear gas and aggressive crowd control, and of ordinary people , including bystanders and those without criminal records, being caught up in enforcement operations. These events have prompted local leaders to call for investigations, legal action, and withdrawal of ICE forces. Oklahoma should not be drawn into this model of enforcement, which has already threatened trust between communities and law enforcement in other states. Instead, I urge you to prioritize policies that protect all people’s constitutional rights, keep families together, and uphold the safety and dignity of residents throughout our state. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter and for representing all Oklahomans with integrity and care.
