Reject anti-LGBTQ+ bill harming and discriminating against students

To: Rep. Gutierrez, Rep. Mathis

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

July 5

This legislation proposes harmful and discriminatory policies that will create an unsafe environment for LGBTQ+ students in schools under SB1166. Forcing schools to misgender or deadname transgender students and prohibiting acknowledgment of their identities perpetuates stigma and marginalization. Outing students against their will also violates privacy and puts them at risk of abuse or rejection from unsupportive family members. Schools should be inclusive spaces where all students feel respected and can learn free from harassment based on gender identity or sexual orientation. I urge you to oppose this damaging SB1166 bill that undermines the wellbeing and rights of LGBTQ+ youth. Every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and have their identity affirmed at school.
