Concerns about Presidential Immunity and How it is Currently being Implemented
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Mount Vernon, IN
May 2, 2025
I write to express my profound concern regarding the recent decision expanding immunity for a sitting president. As a citizen, I believe this ruling undermines the core democratic principle that no one—not even the president—is above the law.
Our Constitution establishes a government of three co-equal branches, with clear checks and balances to prevent the abuse of power. Granting sweeping immunity to a president risks eroding this balance and sets a dangerous precedent that could invite lawlessness and authoritarian behavior at the highest levels of government.
I respectfully urge the Court, in future cases, to reconsider this path and reaffirm the importance of accountability, due process, and the rule of law—values enshrined in the Constitution. Presidents must be held to the same legal and moral standards as every American. The legitimacy of our democracy depends on it.
With hope for justice and fidelity to our founding principles,
