An Open Letter

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Hoyer, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A constituent in North Beach, MD

July 26

Oppose H.R. 1319. This bill is a full-on assault on American workers. It would make it easier for corporations to reclassify employees as “independent contractors,” stripping millions of people of basic protections: • No minimum wage • No overtime pay • No health coverage • No unemployment insurance • No job security • No legal recourse All while forcing workers to pay more in taxes and absorb all the risk—just to benefit corporate profits. This isn’t worker empowerment. It’s legalized exploitation. It’s modern-day feudalism. H.R. 1319 is being pushed through with no public debate and no worker input while Congress is on recess. That alone is a red flag. We’re watching. We’re organizing. And we will not forget who stood with working people and who stood with corporations. Kill this bill. Workers’ rights are non-negotiable.
