I am writing to express my deep concern over Governor Kevin Stitt’s recent executive order establishing the Division of Government Efficiency (DOGE-OK) within the Office of Management and Enterprise Services. While government efficiency is an important goal, this newly created division appears to be an unnecessary expansion of bureaucracy rather than a meaningful solution to wasteful spending. The governor’s executive order grants DOGE-OK sweeping oversight of state agencies without clear legislative approval, raising concerns about transparency, accountability, and the potential for political influence over critical government functions. Additionally, the resources dedicated to this division—whether in the form of staff time, operational expenses, or data access mandates—seem counterproductive to the goal of reducing government waste. Instead of allowing an unvetted executive order to dictate the direction of our state’s budgetary priorities, I urge you and your colleagues in the Legislature to introduce and support legislation that nullifies this division and restores appropriate oversight to our elected representatives. Oklahoma’s taxpayers deserve meaningful fiscal responsibility—not unnecessary bureaucracy that lacks clear justification. I respectfully ask that you take action to ensure our government remains accountable to the people and that taxpayer dollars are spent on essential services rather than redundant oversight mechanisms.
