An Open Letter

To: Sen. Hassan, Sen. Shaheen, Rep. Goodlander

From: A constituent in Canaan, NH

January 31

This executive order represents a dangerous overreach that threatens the wellbeing of America's youth. Banning discussions of gender identity, systemic racism, and historical injustices will only breed ignorance and exacerbate mental health challenges faced by marginalized students. Schools must provide a comprehensive, truthful education that equips students to think critically about complex issues. Attempting to legislate a whitewashed curriculum is not only unethical, but likely violates students' constitutional rights to freedom of speech and equal protection under the law. I urge you to reconsider this misguided policy and instead prioritize evidence-based practices that support the mental health and holistic development of all students, regardless of their race, gender, or background. Our schools should be bastions of open inquiry, not indoctrination camps for a revisionist agenda. The future of our democracy depends on empowering young people with the tools to confront reality, not ignore it.
