Vote YES to protect animals and states’ rights

To: Rep. Smith

From: A verified voter in Ocean, NJ

April 28

I urge you to vote YES on the Luna/Costa amendment number 28 to the Farm Bill. This amendment strikes the ‘Save Our Bacon Act’ section from the Farm bill, which would erase state and local animal protection laws by forcing states to allow the sale of products from factory farms that use extreme confinement—no matter their own standards. If this provision isn’t removed, protections across the country could be invalidated overnight—laws against battery cages, gestation crates, and other inhumane practices gone with a single vote. Even local measures like foie gras bans or puppy mill sales restrictions could be wiped out. Please vote YES to protect animals and states’ rights. Thank you.
