Reject dehumanizing "The American" immigration show proposal
To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

The Trump administration's reported pitch to create a reality show called "The American" where immigrants would compete in challenges for US citizenship is an appalling and dehumanizing idea that must be rejected outright. Reducing the solemn process of naturalization to a grotesque game show spectacle is an affront to the values and ideals America was founded upon. This demeaning and exploitative concept commodifies human lives and treats immigration as mere entertainment rather than a serious legal process. Such a show would only serve to stoke anti-immigrant fear and xenophobia while debasing us as a nation. I urge you to speak out forcefully against this unconscionable proposal and work to ensure it never moves forward under any circumstances. Citizenship must be treated with the dignity and respect it deserves, not degraded into a cruel ratings ploy. We cannot allow such a depraved idea to even be entertained – it must be stopped immediately before it goes any further.
