Please Take Action to Stop the “Alligator Alcatraz” Migrant Camp

To: Gov. DeWine

From: A constituent in Columbus, OH

July 11, 2025

Dear Governor, I'm writing to urge you to speak out and take action against the migrant detention camp recently opened in the Florida Everglades—nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz.” This facility is deeply troubling. It puts thousands of people, many of whom are fleeing violence or hardship, in extreme and unsafe conditions: unbearable heat, flood-prone land, and the real threat of hurricanes. On top of that, public officials and political groups are mocking the situation by selling merchandise and making jokes about alligators. It's cruel, dehumanizing, and it goes against everything we should stand for. This isn’t just about immigration policy. It's about basic humanity. Treating people like this is wrong, and we cannot look the other way while it happens. Please do everything you can to stop this facility from operating. Call for investigations. Demand oversight. Support policies that treat people with dignity and respect. We need leadership that puts compassion and justice above political games. Sincerely, A Concerned American
