President Trump cannot tie the SAVE Act--which pulls control of voting from the states to the federal government and requires that states turn over their voter rolls--to the recently approved housing act. He is threatening states that don't turn over their voter rolls, telling them he will direct the USPS to retain election-related mail in those states. He has consolidated and continues to consolidate information about citizens and residents of the United States from various agencies and sources.
Passing the War Powers act is the first step. But this great, grand, and very large country of ours was never meant to be ruled by a single person. Our voting system is not in a state of emergency--but our privacy, first amendment rights, and democracy are.
Stand up to him. Speak truth to him. Use the power of your office to remind him of the boundaries of his office.
