Reject undemocratic voter suppression tactics - protect voting rights

To: Rep. Buansi, Sen. Meyer

From: A verified voter in Chapel Hill, NC

December 6, 2024

The right to vote is a cornerstone of democracy, yet recent voting changes were shoehorned into a disaster relief bill for western North Carolina, SB 382. This bill seeks to consolidate power through partisan gerrymandering and impose strict voter ID requirements that disproportionately disenfranchise communities of color, the elderly, and youth. These undemocratic tactics undermine fair representation and equal access to the ballot. Uphold Governor Cooper's veto of SB 382 to safeguard free and fair elections accessible to all eligible citizens, protecting the integrity of our democratic system.
