Stop ICE from using taxpayer dollars to turn local police against communities.

To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Frankel, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Lake Worth Beach, FL

May 15

Across the country, as the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrants reach a fever pitch, ICE is exploiting local law enforcement agencies, using them as force multipliers in its deportation drive, expanding ICE’s 287(g) program to a level never seen before. ICE wants local law enforcement officers to join its masked deportation forces, and now it's bankrolling them to participate using our tax dollars. Using local law enforcement to go after immigrants will mean more racial profiling, more people afraid to seek police protection, more fear in our communities, and more Black and Brown people in immigrant detention. We must put a stop to this dangerous program, and the PROTECT Immigration Act would do just that by limiting the federal government's ability to enlist local and state police departments to enforce immigration law.
