This Bill Hurts Arizona: Please Reject the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

To: Rep. Biggs

From: A verified voter in Gilbert, AZ

May 21

I’m writing to you not just as a voter, but as a constituent in Gilbert, Arizona—a member of the community you were elected to represent. I urge you to vote against the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” in its current form. While I understand your commitment to cutting federal spending and limiting government overreach, this bill overreaches in the opposite direction: it creates unnecessary harm, financial risk, and political fallout—especially here in Arizona. 1. Medicaid Cuts Hurt Working Arizona Families and the State Budget Arizona’s Medicaid program, AHCCCS, is one of the most efficient in the country. Cutting $880 billion in federal support over ten years will force the state to make up the shortfall—likely through tax increases or devastating cuts to essential services. This disproportionately hurts seniors, children, veterans, and disabled residents—many of whom are Republican voters. Rural hospitals, already on the brink, may close. That’s not just bad for healthcare—it’s a direct hit to local economies and public safety. 2. Massive Tax Breaks + Program Cuts = Unsustainable Deficit This bill includes $3.8 trillion in tax cuts, mostly for corporations and the wealthy, while only cutting $1 trillion in spending—leaving a $3.3 trillion hole in the federal budget. That is not conservative budgeting. That’s a fiscal time bomb. If passed, this bill will almost certainly result in ballooning debt, rising interest rates, and economic instability. 3. Bundling Diverse Policies Silences Accountability Lumping together healthcare, tax reform, immigration policy, and environmental deregulation into a single package undermines transparency. It prevents meaningful debate on any individual issue and makes it impossible for your constituents to hold you accountable for specific positions. This isn’t smart governance—it’s legislative obfuscation. 4. This Hurts Your Base and Endangers Republican Support This bill alienates moderate Republicans and independents in growing suburban areas like Gilbert. These voters value stability, local control, and practical policy—not political stunts that endanger their healthcare, schools, and cost of living. Your support for this bill would send a message that your priorities lie not with your constituents, but with party leadership and special interests. I strongly urge you to vote no on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Arizona deserves thoughtful, transparent leadership—not a sweeping, reckless experiment.
