Recently, there has been concern raised about the potential for Bob Ferguson, the current Attorney General, and (the guy running for governor) to consider pardoning Gary Ridgway. This possibility has understandably sparked outrage and fear among the public, especially those directly affected by Ridgway's crimes. It is crucial that we take proactive measures to prevent any such pardoning from occurring in the future. Therefore, I propose the introduction of a bill that would explicitly prohibit the Attorney General, or any state official, from pardoning Gary Ridgway under any circumstances. This legislation would serve to protect the integrity of our justice system and ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families. The severity of Ridgway's crimes demands that we maintain a clear and unequivocal stance against any potential leniency or pardon. Allowing such a possibility would not only undermine the judicial process but also inflict further anguish upon those who have suffered irreparable losses. I urge you to consider this proposal seriously and prioritize its swift passage. By enacting this legislation, we can affirm our commitment to upholding justice and honoring the memory of the victims affected by Gary Ridgway's atrocious acts.
