I’m disgusted (again!) that Donald Trump is offering $5,000 to voters to get them to support Republicans in the midterms. It’s a felony under U.S. Code 52 section 10307 (https://substack.com/redirect/7cc1dda2-bcf3-4da3-9c69-8639adc2b124?j=eyJ1IjoiNm1seXYifQ.otOmJiKbuVjJchpYlNRHfEdUeScpGrrwie9zwfsSQuI) to offer voters anything in exchange for their vote. Federal law says “Whoever . . . pays or offers to pay . . . for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years.” According to Lawrence Tribe, Trump’s offer is, in fact, an impeachable offense. He says, and I quote: “Bribery is…the second impeachable offense expressly named in the Constitution, right after treason.” Donald Trump needs to be removed. And Congress needs to demand he stop trying to bribe the voters with a promise that would a) spike inflation and our national debt disastrously and b) we all know is a lie. I mean you have heard the latest, right? That the money can only be spent in the US? How’s he gonna pull THAT off? I feel for the millions for whom 5K would change their lives and who might think this is true. So cruel and treasonous. He’s off his rocker and running our country into the ground. Thanks.
