Congress must hold the president accountable

To: Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd, Rep. Hudson

From: A constituent in Pleasant Garden, NC

June 10

The president's deployment of military forces against peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights is a dangerous abuse of power and a threat to American democracy. This excessive use of force to quash lawful dissent undermines the bedrock principles this nation was founded upon. Congress must act as a co-equal branch of government to rein in this authoritarian overreach and hold the president accountable for trampling on civil liberties. Prompt hearings and investigations are imperative to uphold the rule of law and prevent further erosion of our democratic norms and values. The rights to free speech and assembly are sacrosanct, and this callous crackdown demands a decisive response to reassert Congressional authority.
