Reject the Nomination of Paul Ingrassia to Lead the Office of Special Counsel
I’m writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to reject the nomination of Paul Ingrassia to serve as Special Counsel at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC).
The Office of Special Counsel exists to protect civil rights, enforce the Hatch Act, and safeguard whistleblowers from retaliation. Appointing someone who has reportedly referred to Martin Luther King Jr. Day as “a holiday that belongs in the seventh circle of hell,” called himself “a Nazi streak,” and claimed we “need competent white men in positions of leadership” would destroy the credibility of that mission.
This nomination is not a matter of partisanship — it’s about public trust, ethics, and the integrity of federal service. Ingrassia’s alleged comments, confirmed by multiple outlets including The Guardian and People, reflect open white-nationalist rhetoric that is incompatible with leading an agency charged with enforcing equality, impartiality, and accountability in government.
Confirming him would send a chilling message to every federal employee — especially whistleblowers and workers from marginalized communities — that bias and bigotry are acceptable within government leadership. That cannot stand.
I strongly urge you to:
• Publicly oppose this nomination and demand its withdrawal;
• Use your oversight authority to investigate how this nominee advanced through vetting; and
• Affirm your commitment to protecting civil rights, nondiscrimination, and the integrity of the federal merit system.
Racism and extremism have no place in our government — not now, not ever.
Thank you for standing up for equality and accountability.
