I am troubled by the Trump administration's dismissive attitude towards the Supreme Court order to facilitate the return of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported from the United States to El Salvador. The administration's claim that it is up to the Salvadoran government whether to return him violates the Supreme Court's clear directive and erodes the rule of law. The Attorney General's characterization of Mr. Abrego Garcia's deportation as merely a "paperwork issue" is deeply concerning, as it downplays the gravity of deporting someone in violation of a judge's order granting him protections. This disregard for due process and judicial authority sets a dangerous precedent. Moreover, the statements from administration officials like Stephen Miller suggesting that the U.S. media has no right to even raise this issue are antithetical to democratic principles of free speech and a free press. Attempting to shield this action from public scrutiny only further undermines transparency and accountability. I urge you to forcefully condemn the administration's defiance of the Supreme Court ruling and demand that they take immediate steps to comply with the order to return Mr. Abrego Garcia to the United States. Failure to do so would represent an unacceptable subversion of the judicial branch and the Constitution's system of checks and balances. The rule of law must be upheld.
