I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recent reports that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been granted access to the U.S. Treasury’s payment systems, which handle over $6 trillion in annual transactions, including Social Security, Medicare, and other essential programs. The involvement of private individuals in government operations—especially in systems that affect millions of vulnerable Americans—is a direct threat to national security and public trust. Reports indicate that Musk’s aides have also gained control over the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the General Services Administration (GSA), locking out career civil servants and potentially accessing sensitive government data. This overreach raises serious legal and ethical concerns, and it is imperative that Congress acts swiftly to investigate and prevent any unauthorized manipulation of these critical systems. I urge you to take immediate action by: • Calling for an independent investigation into the extent of DOGE’s access and potential risks to federal payment systems. • Demanding transparency from the Treasury Department regarding what data has been accessed and whether any payments have been delayed or interfered with. • Introducing or supporting legislation that safeguards against private entities exerting undue influence over federal financial operations. Millions of Americans rely on these payments to survive. The possibility that unauthorized individuals could disrupt or redirect these funds is unacceptable. I implore you to prioritize this issue and ensure that our nation’s financial security is not compromised. Please let me know how you plan to address this critical matter. I appreciate your time and your commitment to protecting the American people
