Vote Yes on VISIBLE Act for Community Safety

To: Rep. Simpson, Sen. Crapo, Sen. Risch

From: A constituent in Garden City, ID

July 31

Our communities should not have to live in fear of unidentified federal agents swarming neighborhoods, workplaces, and campuses. The VISIBLE Act is a necessary measure to restore transparency and accountability. By requiring federal agents to wear visible identification showing their agency and name or badge number, and banning masks like balaclavas, this legislation will help reduce the climate of fear and mistrust caused by masked raids. Congress has funneled an unprecedented $170 billion into harsh immigration enforcement, enabling more raids that traumatize communities. People deserve to know they are interacting with legitimate officials, not impersonators or kidnappers. Passing the VISIBLE Act is a commonsense step to create safer interactions between the public and government agents. I urge you to vote yes on this crucial legislation to uphold civil liberties and human rights.
