I’m writing to urge you to oppose S. 5653, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, in its current form. I specifically ask that you push to remove or amend • the rollback of Section 106 historic preservation review and Tribal consultation, (and) • “project certainty” provisions that lock in permits even when they’re unlawful, (and) • taxpayer-funded payouts to developers, (and) • limits on courts’ ability to stop unlawful projects, (and) • cuts to the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act, (and) • giveaways of public lands to mining and drilling companies. Grid reform shouldn’t come at the cost of our public lands, clean water, and communities’ right to be heard. Thank you.
