As your constituent, I urge you to oppose the confirmation of Mr. Todd Blanche as attorney general. Mr. Blanche’s record is not merely troubling — it is dangerous to the integrity of the Justice Department and to the rule of law. He has repeatedly warped prosecutorial power into a political instrument, using the weight of the federal government to punish perceived enemies and to shield favored individuals. Former law enforcement leaders from across the spectrum have warned that his conduct has degraded the Department’s standing with courts and the public; confirming him would cement that degradation. As acting attorney general he greenlit and defended extraordinary, politically charged actions that appear designed to protect a former president and his inner circle. He signed off on a scheme that would have created a fund and broad protections from tax investigations for the president, his family, and his businesses — a transaction widely denounced by members of both parties as a political slush fund. Even after public blowback forced a partial retreat, Mr. Blanche insisted on preserving sweeping tax immunity. That willingness to barter the Department’s independence for the president’s personal interests is indefensible. He has also overseen a purge of career prosecutors and agents — removing more than 200 people who worked on matters involving the president and allies — while vilifying whistle‑blowers and attacking federal judges. Those are not isolated personnel decisions; they are a systematic effort to remake the Department into an extension of partisan loyalty rather than a neutral arbiter of justice. Vindictive prosecutions, improper firings, and public assaults on the judiciary corrode public trust and endanger the principle that everyone must answer to the law equally. Confirming Mr. Blanche would hand the nation’s chief law-enforcement institution to a man who has demonstrated repeatedly that he prioritizes political loyalty and personal favors over ethics, independence, and the public interest. That outcome would have long-lasting, corrosive effects on accountability, democratic norms, and the separation of powers. For the sake of the Justice Department’s credibility, for the protection of democratic norms, and to prevent the weaponization of federal power, you must oppose Mr. Blanche’s confirmation. I urge you to take a firm, public stand against this nomination.
