Stand up or stand down.

Yesterday afternoon, when most people were home enjoying a federal holiday, over 500 people from a small suburban area in Morris County, NJ stood outside protesting the potential development of a 1500 bed ICE detention center in Roxbury, NJ. They are the ones who live there. They are the ones who will foot the bill. They are the ones fighting for humanity. Our elected officials don’t seem to represent them. They didn’t show up. They haven’t spoken up. They certainly haven’t taken any action. We all know that 1500 beds doesn’t mean 1500 people. We’ve heard the reports. 60 men in a room shoulder to shoulder. 60 men in a room sleeping like sardines under Mylar blankets. When is enough going to be enough? Stand up for the interests of your constituents, or stand down and let someone capable take over.
