New Jersey Civic Information Consortium (NJCIC) — a publicly funded nonprofit — has invested $12 million in independent local news by and for New Jersey residents. One in four households receives its news from NJCIC-backed outlets, but Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s proposed FY27 budget would ZERO OUT funding for this important initiative. As newsrooms across the state have shut down and journalists have lost their jobs, too many communities have been left in the dark. The NJCIC has funded all kinds of projects to give people the news and information they need — and this is especially crucial given how the Trump administration and its billionaire allies are pushing propaganda in place of honest journalism. Please invest in local news by supporting Senate BR #453. A well-funded NJCIC helps us stay informed and engaged.
