Independent Voter We all know what is going on here. Birthright citizenship as set forth in the 14th Amendment has been long established since the Civil War. Looking back historically it has served our country well and is part of what separates our democracy from the rest of the world. THE only reason Trump proposed this change is pure racism. Racism on full display: “Haitian immigrants in Ohio are abducting and eating cats and dogs.” “Haitian migrants coming to the U.S. probably have AIDS.” “Haiti and some African nations as are shithole countries” “Why the U.S. would want more people from there rather than places like Norway?” “Migrants, including those from Haiti, are "poisoning the blood" of the country.” What is truly appalling is the Supreme Court ruling rejecting his request was not unanimous! Maybe the Supreme Court justices need a field trip to see who’s picking the crops please on our dinner tables every night. Every citizen doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist. “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” The America I was raised in welcomed these people with open arms. Shame on all of you for not voicing your support for this basic principal of our democracy. And you dare call yourself Christians!
