Wake up, this isn't a nightmare but it is frightening

To: Rep. Miller-Meeks, Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst

From: A constituent in Iowa City, IA

March 8

Do we really want an executive branch that can't tell the difference between transgenic and transgender to call the shots when cutting funding? Do we want to let them use a reprieve from a court deadline to make more cuts to USAID rather than figure out how to undo cuts? Do we want them ignoring the courts? Do we want to let them sell off offices that house critical functions while calling for a return to the office? Do we want them to cancel the lease on presidential libraries? Do we want them to fire the people who are supposed to keep them honest when that is supposed to be done through congressional action? Do we want them to impound funds allocated by Congress? No. We are a nation of laws, that has constitutional checks and balances. Use your power before we lose our once proud democracy. There is still time for you to act. But our government is crumbling quickly. The VA is under attack. Our farmers are facing uncertainty and loss because of tariffs. Tariffs against our trading partners because of a false emergency at the Canadian border. Our ability to protect our children from diseases like the measles is dwindling. The price of eggs is skyrocketing because we can't respond to that disease. So many bad things are happening with this administration that even writing nearly every day, I can't keep up. Do your part to represent me and the thousands of people like me who are writing to you asking you to wake up and do something to protect us and our democracy.
