Condemn Lawmakers' Meeting with War Crimes Accused Netanyahu

To: Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Pismo Beach, CA

July 14

I find it deeply concerning that a bipartisan group of senators met and posed for photos with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite the International Criminal Court issuing an arrest warrant against him for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Regardless of political affiliations, lawmakers should not be giving a public platform or expressing solidarity with individuals accused of such grave human rights violations. Meeting with Netanyahu undermines the principles of human rights and international law. This meeting sends a troubling message of indifference towards the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the allegations of war crimes committed by the Israeli government. It is a stark display of the unwavering support the US provides to Israel, often at the expense of human rights and justice for the Palestinian people. As public servants, senators have a duty to uphold human rights and denounce actions that enable or perpetuate violence and oppression. I urge you to reconsider providing any support or favorable optics to leaders accused of war crimes and human rights abuses. Such actions undermine America's credibility as a champion of human rights and weaken our moral standing on the global stage. Moving forward, I hope you will prioritize upholding human rights, international law, and holding all parties accountable for actions that enable violence and oppression, regardless of political allegiances or strategic alliances. The American people deserve representatives who will prioritize justice and human rights above partisan politics.
