Silencing constituents due to area code is wrong
To: Rep. Moore
From: A constituent in Buckhannon, WV
April 20
I am a resident of West Virginia. I live here, vote here, pay taxes here, and participate in this community. And yet, I’ve just learned that your office has directed staff to ignore constituent messages from anyone with a non-WV area code—automatically dismissing us as outsiders. That is offensive, exclusionary, and beneath the dignity of your office.
I kept my phone number at the request of my elderly father so he could always reach me, even after I moved to West Virginia. That personal decision does not revoke my rights as your constituent.
You’re not just ignoring outsiders—you’re deliberately silencing your own voters. The ones who can’t afford to move, who stayed to fight for better days in our state. The ones who expect basic decency from the people who claim to represent us.
You’ve already chosen to ignore public outrage over human rights abuses like CECOT. Now you’re compounding that indifference by shutting out the voices of people you were elected to serve. Shame on you. Do better.
