Maryland did it. NJ can too!
To: Gov. Sherrill
From: A verified voter in Budd Lake, NJ

The people of Roxbury and its surrounding areas are already suffering- their voices are going unheard. The mayor laughs at constituent concerns. The counsel is also a representative for another district and is pro-ICE and is very much failing to protect the best interests of our area.
Roxbury’s budget document now includes a new item “ICE - LEGAL” with the recommended pay being 100,000 dollars. This is on top of the regular pay for the municipal attorney which is 80,000 dollars. State Senator Bucco who also serves as Roxbury’s Township Attorney is going to take $180,000 of Roxbury taxpayers’ money to serve as legal representation against DHS….the department he SUPPORTS with PRO-ICE legislation in the State Senate.
We need you, Governor, to stop the development of ICE facilities in NJ. Our local representatives as well as our state representatives will not do anything.
A federal judge in Maryland successfully blocked further development of ICE facilities in their state. Their circumstances were very similar to ours- structural and environmental. It can be done, and we are urging you to do it.
