Shield, Hydra and the PDFiles
To: Sen. Kim, Sen. Booker
From: A constituent in Oak Ridge, NJ
February 5
In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers discovers something uncomfortable: the institution meant to protect the public (SHIELD) has been rotting from the inside and taken over by an evil shadowy organization (Nazi Hydra). So he does the unthinkable in Washington DC…he exposes it. Not selectively. Not “after careful review.” Not with names redacted for “national security.” He dumps the files, lets the public see the truth, and allows consequences to land where they may.
Funny thing: that’s portrayed as heroic.
Now let’s talk about the Epstein files.
You’ve told WE THE PEOPLE they’re being “reviewed.” You’ve told WE THE PEOPLE it’s “complex.” You’ve told WE THE PEOPLE to be patient. Meanwhile, the same pattern repeats: powerful people protected, victims sidelined, and accountability perpetually scheduled for sometime after never.
If a fictional senator can be arrested on-screen for being compromised by Hydra, surely real-life officials, celebrities and other famous people can survive sunlight without civilization collapsing.
Release the files.
All of them.
Unredacted.
No special carve-outs for donors, colleagues, former presidents, or “friends of the committee.”
If crimes were committed, prosecute them.
If officials were compromised, remove them.
If institutions failed, expose them.
This isn’t radical. It’s basic governance. Transparency isn’t vengeance; it’s the minimum price of holding public office.
Captain America didn’t say, “Trust the system.”
He said, “The price of freedom is high, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay.”
The public already paid. We’re just waiting on you to do your job.
Sincerely,
A citizen who’s tired of watching the bad guys get away with everything.
