Reject SAVE Act - Safeguard Voting Rights, Election Integrity

To: Sen. Tillis, Rep. McDowell, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Greensboro, NC

April 11

The SAVE Act seeks to impose strict citizenship documentation requirements like passports for voter registration, which could disenfranchise many eligible voters, suppress women voters, and create significant obstacles to participating in federal elections due to potential delays in processing documents. While ensuring the integrity of elections is important, this legislation goes too far in erecting barriers that risk undermining access to the fundamental right to vote. The bill would be expensive to administer given the need to process large volumes of documents like passports ahead of elections. There are more reasonable and balanced approaches to addressing concerns about voter eligibility that do not risk excluding eligible citizens from the democratic process. I urge you to reject this bill and instead pursue reforms that preserve voting rights while maintaining secure elections.
