proposal to reinstate the $2,000 Medi-Cal asset cap in the 2025–26

To: Sen. Grove, Asm. Arambula

Reinstating the Medi-Cal asset cap is cruel. It punishes low-income seniors, disabled folks, and those who try to save for emergencies. Reject this. $2,000 is not wealth. It's barely enough to cover rent or meds. Californians shouldn't have to stay broke to stay insured. Newsom calls himself progressive, but this harms the most vulnerable. You don't build equity by forcing people to stay poor. This move hits disabled people, elders, and communities of color the hardest. It's unjust and shameful. Do not let this pass. Health care is a human right. Punishing people for having a few thousand dollars is heartless. Stop the asset cap proposal. If this is in the final budget, I will not support Gov. Newsom in future elections. He's betraying the people who trusted him most. California must protect progress-not reverse it. Keep the Medi-Cal asset cap out of the budget. Our lives depend on it.
