Protect public lands, preserve national heritage for all
To: Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

The proposal to sell off around 11,000 acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is deeply concerning. Public lands belong to all Americans and are meant to be preserved for future generations to enjoy, not auctioned off for development or private interests. These lands provide crucial habitats for wildlife, offer unparalleled opportunities for outdoor recreation, and are an integral part of our national heritage. While proponents argue that the land sale could generate revenue for local infrastructure needs, this short-term gain would come at the cost of permanently losing access to these cherished natural spaces. Furthermore, there are already mechanisms in place for local governments to acquire public lands for legitimate public purposes through land exchanges or other legal means. I urge you to reject any attempts to include provisions for the sale of public lands in this or any other legislation. These lands are a shared resource that must be protected and preserved for the benefit of all Americans, both now and in the future. Please stand firm in your commitment to safeguarding our public lands and ensure that they remain in public hands for generations to come.
