Fluoride in Utah's water

To: Gov. Cox, Sen. Stevenson, Rep. Defay

From: A verified voter in Layton, UT

February 25

I am writing to express my strong opposition to any efforts to ban fluoride from our public water supply in Utah. As a concerned resident, I urge you to consider the overwhelming scientific evidence supporting the benefits of fluoridation for public health. Fluoridation has been endorsed by leading health organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the World Health Organization (WHO). It is a proven, safe, and cost-effective measure to prevent tooth decay across all demographics, particularly benefiting children and lower-income families who may have limited access to dental care. Removing fluoride from our water supply would put our communities at risk for increased dental health issues, leading to higher long-term healthcare costs for families and the state. The CDC has recognized water fluoridation as one of the top ten public health achievements of the 20th century. Reversing this policy would be a step backward for Utah’s commitment to public health. I urge you to stand with science and the well-being of our communities by opposing any legislation that seeks to ban fluoride in our water. Please consider the decades of research and the positive impact fluoridation has had on public health in Utah and across the nation. Thank you for your time and consideration. I appreciate your service to our community and look forward to your response.
