Todd Weiler Must Resign From One Role — Sutherland Institute Conflict Is Unacceptable

To: Rep. Dailey-Provost, Sen. Plumb, Gov. Cox

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

July 18

Todd Weiler cannot hold both his legislative position and his role at the Sutherland Institute. The conflict of interest is obvious: he is in a position to make or influence decisions that directly benefit an organization he serves. That is self-dealing, and it undermines the integrity of both roles. This isn't a close call. When a legislator has a financial or organizational stake in a policy shop that lobbies the very body he serves on, constituents lose. I expect you to call publicly and on the record for Weiler to resign from one of these positions immediately.
